For Throwback Thursday today, I thought I'd go back into my archives to blog about this session I did last Christmas! I have taken portraits of sweet little Clara and Alex for a few years now, so when their mom and grandmother approached me for an in-home lifestyle family session I was SO excited! I love being invited into clients' homes because it is where they feel the most comfortable and the most 'themselves'. On this occasion, the WHOLE family was going to be there! Mom, dad, kids, grandparents, and their aunt and uncle!
We came up with the idea of doing something fun and Christmas-y indoors and decided that making gingerbread houses would be a great way to get everyone involved. I just love the way that focusing on an activity during a session brings out the most natural expressions and interactions! Watching the family dote on the little ones was so sweet and I had to chuckle at some of the photos that showed Alex's reaction to LOTS of icing and candy. Heaven!!! As we wrapped up the gingerbread houses, the kids ran around and played and it was fun to capture them in their own element...playing the guitar, playing the piano, chillin' in their awesome lounge chairs. They were too cute!
I'm so looking forward to this weekend because I'll be heading out to one of my favorite local photographer's homes to do a Christmas-themed lifestyle session in her home too. Gingerbread houses and tree decorating are on the agenda and I can't wait!!! My own family will be doing a gingerbread house sometime soon as well. Hopefully, the roof won't cave in this time!
I hope these images bring some holiday cheer to your day! Thanks for going down memory lane with me today. :-D
